Hand painted egg is an attribute of the Easter decor that has a certain meaning. Every image painted on an egg is a symbol, and all such symbols together give an egg the properties of an amulet.
The item, called in Ukraine "pysanka", is painted with the use of aniline colors, natural wax and vinegar. Basis of pysanka is a hollow chicken egg that is coated inside and outside with paraffin for durability.
