This painted egg is made from ostrich egg, painted with hot wax and colored with aniline dye. It is considered that pisanka is mainly Slavic symbol of fertility and revival. But it is not so. The ostrich eggs decorated with carving were found in Africa. Researchers say that these painted eggs are about 60 000 years old.
